Tarn Taran - Shiromani Akali Dal  president Sukhbir Singh Badal today led a massive dharna against the Tarn Taran police for registering false cases against Akali workers forcing SSP Dr Ravjot Kaur Grewal to assure that no SAD worker would be arrested.

The SSP deputed DSP Preetinder Singh to give this assurance besides stating that the two cases registered against SAD workers were also being investigated. The party gave its memorandum to the police on the occasion. The SAD president while speaking at the dharna earlier condemned the SSP for acting like a stooge of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and warned her that she would be held accountable if she crossed the line and acted as a political agent of AAP.

Asserting that it had become the norm for IPS officers to think they had become untouchable after giving bag loads of cash to Arvind Kejriwal, Mr Sukhbir Badal said “DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar also thought the same. But see where he is now. I appeal to SSP Dr Ravjot Grewal not to spoil her career by becoming an agent of AAP”.

Stating that Akalis were not afraid of going to jail, Mr Badal made it clear that if a single Akali worker was implicated in a false case the SAD would not let chief minister Bhagwant Mann as well as Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia to enter the constituency. “The Khalsa quom and Punjabis cannot be suppressed. The more you try to muzzle their voice the more strongly they bounce back”.Mr Badal said it was increasingly becoming clear that AAP had lost the plot and was now banking on the police to influence voters. He gave an account of how police officers loyal to SAD turncoat and AAP candidate - Harmeet Sandhu had been given prime postings. He said these officers included DSPs Jagjit Singh and Sandeep Singh and SHOs Gurcharan Singh, Balraj Singh, Gurdeep Singh and Naresh Kumar. He said two of the SHOs - Balraj and Gurdeep were scheduled to retire in four months and could not be posted in the constituency while Naresh Kumar was the husband of an AAP Sarpanch.

Assuring the people that AAP leaders as well as officers indulging in corruption would be held accountable, Mr Badal said “special inquires would be opened against them in 2027. All such corrupt persons will be proceeded against and the proceeds of their crime will be recovered from them and submitted back into the State exchequer”.

Senior leaders present on the occasion included SAD Tarn Taran candidate Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, Gulzar Singh Ranike, Alwinder Singh Pakhoke, Lakhbir Singh Lodhinangal and Ravinder Singh Brahmpura.
